What we have found with Kikuyu is that Wintergrass is a similar colour to kikuyu and regular mowing seems to disguise the wintergrass and more importantly the regular mowing (with catcher, of course) reduces the spread of the prolific seed heads on the plant.

Also, you can use Endothal on cool season grasses like rye grass and fescue.
