Pigeon Grass seems to be more and more prevalent in the last few years and tends to be mostly a problem in Couch lawns, a bit of a problem in Kikuyu grass and we don’t really see it at all in Buffalo Lawns (Stenotaphrum secundatum).
The lawn up the hill is Green Couch (Cynodon dactylon) and the grass in the foreground is Queensland Blue Couch (Digitaria didactyla).
The problem for us here is that we would like to get rid of the Queensland Blue out of the Green Couch and this is problematic as there is not a lot in our kit bag that will do the job.
A couple of options are: 1. DSMA or 2. Bayer’s Destiny Herbicide.
We tend to favour Destiny as you can hit the Green Couch pretty hard without hurting the Green Couch but will damage the Blue Couch, however, may need to follow up a couple of times.
