How To Get Rid Of Army Worms In Your Lawn In Sydney
How To Get Rid Of Army Worms in your lawn – let’s get started! Army Worm Damage In The Lawn – here’s what it looks like !! On the whole it is not too bad having your lawn eaten out by Army Worm, unless the damage occurs close to Winter. Then you will be in big trouble. Here in Sydney NSW Australia in the Southern Hemisphere, we can experience problems with Army Worm any time (mostly from Summer to mid to late Autumn). However, the biggest problem is when Army Worms strike close to Winter. It is really important to act quickly to eliminate any Army Worm attacks and to heavily fertilise the damaged lawn to aid recovery and green up prior to the cooler season of Winter. Here in Sydney (Australia) we have great summer weather with lots of rain. These are all the ingredients for a Perfect Healthy Lush Green Lawn and Army Worms will have a feast. To get ready for the onslaught you will need the following:
- Bifenthrin – this insecticide can be applied in granular or liquid form. We use Compel Insecticide (made by Amgrow) – https://globegrowingsolutions.com.au/product/compel-pro/ to help eradicate Army Worms overnight. Alternatively, you can source Bifenthrin insecticides such as Richgro’s Lawn Grub Killa from Bunnings. The active constituent in Compel is Bifenthrin which is an insecticide in the pyrethroid family. Pyrethroids are manmade versions of pyrethrins, and pyrethrins come from chrysanthemum flowers. Bifenthrin, if applying at heaviest rate, you can extend the control period, however, check the Label for rates and instructions. Any other products are duds because they don’t have the longevity of control.
- A good well balanced slow release granular Fertiliser with NPK around 22:0:5. Any retail fertilisers including Scott’s Lawn Builder will help here.
