Harvestin Buffalo Grass At Green Life Turf

Ever wondered why they leave a 3 inch strip of Grass behind when they’re harvesting Buffalo Lawn?

All is answered in today’s video taken out at Freemans Reach on the Hawkesbury River west of Sydney NSW.

As Buffalo Grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum), also known as St Augustine Grass in America, only has above ground runners (ie stolons) the turf farmer then harvests the grass leaving a 3 inch or 100mm strip of grass. This allows the Buffalo Grass to propagate itself from the strips of grass.

The farm is owned by Green Life Turf, we have dealt with them for the last 16 years, and it goes without saying they are top blokes!
